Where did your derby name come from?

Long story, but I'm not afraid to make decisions that aren't always the most popular.

Age:

48 this year!

Hometown and current town:

Searsmont.

How long have you been skating?

Fall of 2011, but I waited six years to close enough to a league to skate and it was over an hour each way for my first two years of skating.

Why do you play?

So many reasons! I play mostly for me. I love the athleticism and competition and I love the strategy of the game. I love the ability to be fully present doing something where I don't have to think about work, problems, bills, what I'm having for breakfast tomorrow, etc. And I love so many of the amazing, intelligent, inspirational women I've had the pleasure to know and work along side of running the league as well as on the track. Women I would never have met if it wasn't for roller derby. <3

What's a great song to skate to?

Depends on what I'm doing. If I'm working on endurance I love Particle's "Road's a Breeze at 3am", If I'm just fun skating I can go from rap, hip-hop to anything with a good beat.

What's your favorite derby memory?

It is so hard to choose only one. However, our very first competitive season we signed up to skate in a B-team tournament in Massachusetts, with fairly low expectations. I recall the conversation going something like, "Well, we'll just see how we do". We ended up playing multiple games in an arena that had no cooling and it was super humid. The paint on the rink floor was chipping everywhere - it was in our underwear even. We crammed too many people into hotel rooms to make sure we could afford to travel. We won the entire tournament, over much more experienced leagues/teams. That was definitely a high that is hard to recreate.

What's your favorite Coastal Chaos memory?

Seeing my old team (RCR) skate against my other old team (CT) while I was taking some time off from skating. That was super exciting and a very close game.

Does pineapple belong on pizza?

I originate and lived for 28 years less than 50 miles from NYC in an area with some of the best pizza in the country. I am a complete and total pizza snob. So, no.
