FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

11/4/19

ROCKLAND, MAINE-- The Rockland, Maine-based flat track roller derby league, the Rock Coast Rollers, today announced a rebrand and are now operating under the new moniker Rock Coast Roller Derby. Along with the new name comes a new logo, designed by local graphic designer and retired roller derby player Kate Greene.

“We made this subtle change to our name to be more easily identified. We want people in our community to hear our name or see or new logo and know who we are and what we do,” said Board Vice President Vanessa Thomann.

Rock Coast Roller Derby was founded in 2011 and is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The mission of the organization is to empower women in the community to be strong, healthy, and confident through the sport of roller derby. Rock Coast Roller Derby has been a member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) since 2014, which currently oversees nearly 500 flat track roller derby leagues on 6 continents.

Rock Coast Roller Derby values community, athleticism, and teamwork and welcomes people of all genders and backgrounds to have a role in our organization and learn the sport.

A game schedule for the summer is currently being coordinated, however our 6th annual international roller derby tournament, Coastal Chaos, has been scheduled for June 6th and 7th and the Midcoast Recreation Center in Rockport. Please visit our website for details: rockcoastrollerderby.org.
